Panzer Troop.
If he was in SS uniform his treatment would be much different.

You can't see if he's in the W-SS, it's just a Tank Destruction Badge. (Panzervernichtungsabzeichen)

Ahhh thanks for the info on his badge. I remember the Germans had a bunch and that name is a real mouth full.
Most SS wore the dark uniform and I had forgot the Waffen did wear field gray.
Lucky for him the US GI does not know the badges. I heard from old GIs specifically armor infantry and tankers they had a hatred for the anti tank gunners. 88 crews were not treated nicely by armor units support infantry. Another unliked soldier was the MG42 gunner. Those old films don't show sometimes the real treatment given right as the fight was on. Much surrender film was shot in lulls when surrender was kind of worked out.
Still it is nice to role play as we do today.
I am a Viet Nam vet. A LRRP operative in 72.
I got my scars and memories.
Nice work on the photo shots. One thing I am glad to see a greater interest in the WWII German military. I do know at one time it was not acceptable to even review those days.

That's sadly true. Most people don't even know how german POW's were treated. Us and Canadian troops systematically killed W-SS and FJ soldiers during 1944 and 45. It is important to know both sides of history.
The black SS uniforms were not seen in combat, it was the Waffen SS with field grey and camouflage uniforms who fought at the front lines.
